92nd Anniversary Dinner

A wonderful evening was held at The Brewery in London by the Lendlease Guvnors Club celebrating their 92nd Anniversary dinner. Guvnors, Life Guvnors, Clients, Consultants & guests attended from both our Northern and Southern Regional branches with over 400 in attendance. The evening was hosted by our Toastmaster, Pav who kept the evening on track. Our new National Chairman Simon Gorski delivered his Chairman speech, which was a great opener to the evening. Northern Branch Treasurer Peter Hill announced winners of the Guvnor of Year for both regions. The Northern Guvnor of the Year was awarded to Sam Peck and the Southern Guvnor of the Year was awarded to Anil Patel. We also presented Life Guvnor Cans to Clive Holland and Steve Brown. The Life Guvnor title recognises members of the Club who have retired but made huge contributions to the Club within their time in the business. Clive Holland joined as an Apprentice Carpenter in 1965 as part of Lendlease’s subsidiary Yeoman & Partners. He retired in 2017 after 51 years’ and 10 months service which means that Clive is one of the longest serving employees of Lendlease. Steve first started with Lendlease as a Contract Management trainee in 1976. He has been a member of the Southern Branch Committee for many years and his speciality has been in organising numerous pub quiz evenings and trips to local brewery’s as well as assisting at the Christmas Charity Ball and other events. A massive thank you to everyone who donated to the raffle this year and congratulations to the winners. We were raising money for CRASH, helping homelessness charities and hospices with vital construction projects, and the Birmingham Crisis Centre. Our entertainment for the evening was the impressive Chris Ramsey! He kept the jokes rolling and there were plenty of laughs around the room. Once all the formalities were finished it was time for everyone to catch up with old friends and make new ones.
